Healthy summer snacks

One of the nicest things in the summer months is a refreshing ice cream or a fresh sugary lemonade on a scorching hot day. If there are a lot of those kind of days well then I'm gonna be gaining some pounds and that is not what we want is it now? So I'm going to show you some of the snacks that I like eating in the summer time.

Frozen Grapes:

Some of you might think I'm crazy but let me explain: If you have a sweet tooth like me then you'll love these! They remind me of ice cream, the Callipso kind. Sweet, cold, refreshing, and very satisfying. Just put a bowl of them in the freezer and leave over night. The next day you'll be left with these small individual portions of goodness. After dinner put them on the table and they're a worthy replacement of ice cream. This will work well with green as blue grapes.

I've also used this 'technique' on blueberries and it worked just as well.

Vegetable Dip:

If you crave salty things then this one is for you. It's probably something you've already heard of but I really enjoy eating this, even for lunch. Chose your favorite raw vegetables and chop them up in strips so they are easily dippable. I really like carrots, cucumber, cauliflower and red or yellow peppers. Then for the dip: take cream cheese or mayonnaise ( the light version), and mix it with low fat or regular Greek yoghurt. To season you can add salt and pepper to taste also some chives would be nice.

                                                   Chocolate covered strawberries:

You might be thinking chocolate? Well yes, if you dip them in dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate they'll be healthier. Always a crowd pleaser these ones! Simple but effective.

Lemon/mint water:

Not technically a snack but it's still a taste-a-like of lemonade. Not really, but I'd like to think so. It's refreshing especially if you add ice cubes. Great during lunch/dinnertime or great for cooling down after a hot walk in the sunshine. Another thing to add to your jug of water is mint. With or without the lemon, it tastes great either way. Here I used mint as I didn't have any lemons in the house.

So these are a couple of nice and simple things for you to snack on during the warmer months.

Hope you enjoyed reading this blogpost and I hope to see you guys soon.

My latest 'love its'.

Love its

This will be my first 'proper' beauty post. I say proper in the sense that it actually contains make-up-y bits and pieces, but it is by no means written properly as I don't really know what I'm doing. This post is about some beauty bits that I have been loving the past few months.

Numero uno:

The Rimmel Stay Matte foundation. I've loved the powder for quite a while so I decided to buy the matching foundation as the summer was on it's way. I have an oily face so anything that claims to mattify the complexion is a winner for me. Before I bought it I went to look at some reviews and most of them were positive so I went ahead and bought it. I'm so glad I did! It is a mousse consistency and it is a light/medium coverage. For me it works wonders: it mattifies and was long lasting. This will be my most used base product for the summertime.

Numero duo:
The Dainty Doll mascara and eyeliner duo. The mascara is the product that has been on my lashes nearly everyday. This mascara is very natural as it's a brown mascara instead of a black one. It's not the most volumising or the most lenghtening but that wasn't what I was looking for. So this is a natural, made for pale girls mascara.

Numero tres:
The Essence longlasting lipstick in 07, natural beauty. This is the first nude-ish lipstick that I've ever owned. I really wanted an everyday, easy to wear lipstick, and I immediately thought of Mac's Cream Cup but I just couldn't justify paying €18 for a lipstick just yet. I didn't know if a colour like this would suit me so I decided to buy a cheaper, drugstore one. So glad I did! I fell in love at first application. It's a 'your lips but better' kind of colour that looks natural and effortless. I'm not daring enough to wear a bright red out just yet so this is a good way to start wearing lipstick out and about. It applies wonderfully and it has an amazing colour pay-off  And even better it was only €2.40.

Numero quattro:
The Barry M Gelly High-shine nailpaint  in blueberry. Wonderful application, long lasting and the shade is just stunning. A powdery blue colour that is lovely for summer. There really isn't much more to say about this product, just that I really love it.

Numero cinco:
The Inecto Pure Coconut hair serum. My hair is long, frizzy and very dry so I need all the help I can get. This serum does the job for me. It isn't a magic product but it has tamed my hair. I just pop in on my toweldried hair after a shower and voila. It can be applied on dry hair to tame the frizz even more.

So this concludes my latest love its. Let me know if there are some things that I really need to give a try!

Movie reminding me of me

 Now and then

I recently watched the movie Now and Then. It was made in 1995 and a part of it is set in the 70's. It's about 4 girls who reunite after being apart for 10 years. They were childhood friends and they were inseparable.

Whilst I was watching it, I couldn't help but feel it reminds me of my friends and myself. Not that I haven't seen them for 10 years but just the fact that they're all so different and still they form one whole. The young girls in the movie are younger than me but oh boy it's like looking in a mirror.

You go through a lot together, you fight, you don't get along but in the end you wouldn't want to tell your secrets to anyone else but them. The funny moments will stay with you for years and years but so will the sad ones. I think  you need to have experienced positive and negative things to form a true friendship. Memories need to be made together. All the things you don't want your parents to know, all of the 'don't tell anyone' moments, the embarrassing stuff, ... all of those things are good stories for when you're older.

Now If you fancy a lovely, old-school movie then definitely give this one a watch! If you're a person who likes making and thinking back on memories then this one is a good'n for you!
